This book has definitely made it onto my favorites list. It is about a fifth grade boy named Jackson who's parents are running out of money. He has a little sister named Robin and a dog named Aretha. There's no money for rent, and they're running out of food. And Jackson and Robin are dreading having to live in the minivan. Again.  Then Crenshaw comes back. The first time he sees him again is at the beach. He is surfing. Next he is in Jackson's apartment, taking a midnight bubble bath. Oh I forgot to mention. Crenshaw is a giant cat that Jackson made up when he was in the first grade. At first he thinks that Crenshaw has come back to haunt him. But as their friendship is slowly repaired, Jackson realizes that he isn't coming back to haunt him. It's to help him. This book is one of the best I've ever read.
