The Pox Party

The Pox Party

By M.T. Anderson

Just to warn you, this book is about slavery, so of course, it is SOOOOOO DEPRESSING.😭😭😭 Anyways, it's about a black boy who lives with a group of philosophers and his mother, (a captive African princess), in a rich house called The College of Lucidity and is given everything he wants. He has a great education, fancy clothes, and delicious food, every day of his life. Then, one day his curiosity gets the better of him, and he opens the one forbidden door, THE ONE THING THAT HE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO!!!! When he sees what is in the room, everything ends, and he realizes the real reason that he is kept in this house of fear and death. My favorite character is Dr. Trefusis, one of the scholars who taught Octavian while he was in The College. I like him because it's a secret and if I tell you I will totally ruin the book for you. You must read this. I would say that it is probably a 13 and up sort of book because it is very intense and there are some violence and stuff that little kids would be traumatized by.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER
